#1: Got to read Tammy Blackwell's third installment in her "Timber Wolves Trilogy." I frigging love her writing and her characters. And I'll love her forever for putting her with the guy I wanted Scout with in the first place! Woot!
trying2 figure out who the deuce this guy is...
#2: Once Upon A Time, season 2 started up tonight! Here was a couple favorite moments!
And yet another reason I love them. They aren't afraid to twist things up and throw these characters for a new loop! That's great writing right there.
Love every scene with these two: pure magic!
some awesome mother daughter adventures about to go down!
best payback moment ever!
Anyways, enough ranting!
Gear up everyone and find a happy face for work tomorrow. I'll endeavor to do the same ;)
Completely blanked out on the fact I was supposed to do another "meme" as they call them today! Well here's mine. The thing about fridays is, you're supposed to share something that is your favorite, book, movie, moment, whatever suits your fancy.
Jane Eyre
I've been listening to the Jane Eyre soundtrack tonight and am reminded why it's my favorite gothic romance. This novel has always had a close tie with Gone With the Wind for me. Like many other withdrawn, introverted and eccentric authors, I can connect with my "inner Jane."
Then again, having a Rochester wouldn't be so bad either. Especially if he looks like Michael Fassbender shuwee!
Well here we are again, another "almost" middle of the week! Hope everyone is doing well! I finished Silver Hollow recently so I've been busy trying to get it primped an polished to be edited. :) Today's Teaser takes you to the precise spot I'm editing in Silver Hollow. Hope you enjoy!
Shaking her head she countered, “Why did you do that? You
scared me half to death!”“I came for you. You should not be down here alone. Could
you not fell it was I?” He brushed up against her, eyes boring into hers with a
heat too close for comfort and passed. Amie laughed and shrugged. “Well, I don’t know. I guess I
shouldn’t be surprised, right? I mean, there’s always one snatch and grab scene
in these kinds of stories…” He only looked down over her curiously in return
and waving the thought aside she said, “Never mind.”Stepping closer to her space, he spoke even lower, in a
rough voice she sensed was more natural to him rarely used.“I’ve been looking for you because I feared for your safety.
All is not well on the edge of the Borderlands. We mustn’t let them snatch
you.”Amie wasn’t sure whether he wanted her to follow him, even
if he was the reason she skipped dinner with Henry and Emrys.“Are you coming or not?” His voice fell over her with
a draft of wind several steps ahead. “Come. You can nay go the way you came. Who
knows who could be watching.”
So obviously I'm still learning the ropes around blog space. I realized belatedly that my Mondays and Fridays meme's were too similar, so let's try this again. I still want to call it ______ Mondays because now it's just funny to me.
Rules are the same. You comment and link to one thing that you've discovered recently, be it a video a picture or whatever. Have fun! I know I will even if I'm the only one lol This is different from the fun favorites of Friday because you have to think a little more with this one. You can brag about a book you've read, a website or product, whatever.
Ready? Set? Go!
Fairy-tale Reruns
So I'm a sucker for fairy-tale retellings. We've been seeing it everywhere, from "Once Upon a Time" & "Grim" on tv, to Mirror, Mirror and SW&tH in theaters. I think this growing trend into fantasy has been largely due to the powerhouse old time themes we find in those old stories. Some of the originals are downright creepy. Still others are lots of fun.
So my mash up for today is a little expose on some the fairy tale theme.
and there's a new Snow White retelling coming soon from Krystle Jones called: A White So Red.
Now do I think the fairy tale genre might be a little overdone by this point? Probably. But fairy tales are some of the oldest stories we have. They were orally passed down for generations before put to paper. And their themes have lasted through time (though the feminism phenomenon has changed the princess role lol).
So I tend to think there's a reason they've lasted as long as they have. Awesome thing is they'll probably still be telling the classics to our children's children.
Freaky fridays just wansn't original enough ;) So I'm calling today's post Favorite Fridays, for one of two reasons. One, because I think it will be fun to post about something from the past, more favorite things Julie Andrews! Two, because isn't that what the cyber world is all about, sharing interests, you know "communicating?" ;)
So here's a few things from the old school days that have remained my favorites. Feel free to share your own favorite moments or things. :)
Every Tuesday I'll be sharing a snippet from whatever I happen to be working on at the time. Today's teaser is taken from Silver Hollow close to the climax of the story. Hope you enjoy this sneak peak!
With
wide eyes she doubled over, hands outstretched.
“Okay that was weird…” And then
a new pair of hands had clasped hers. Righting herself she was turning in
circles with the man from the village, the man who had watched her watch Faye
dance, a familiar man. Dressed once more in a costume mash up of Errol Flynn
and D’Artanagn, she knew instinctively this must be the one Emrys called Grimwich.
So this is
Morcant’s lap dog.
Blue
eyes laughing and shining with an elderberry wine glaze, he exclaimed, “Pardon
the intrusion my dear, but you are just too irresistible!” Linking their gloved
fingers, they each stepped back in time to the music. During which time, his
eyes spent the vast majority roving over her outfit. “This creation is simply
too divine!” Flashing her a devilish grin, his glance then turned predatory. “I
realize this may seem sudden, but no other lass has been able to hold a cup to
you, dearest. I do hope you’ll consider my proposal.”
“Proposal?
Are you kidding me? We don’t even know each other!”
That I can
recall at the present anyway…And
from the smile Grimwich gave her after bringing her back into his embrace, she
could tell his thoughts were steered the same way. Amie turned to the rapidly
crowding dance floor in her search for her missing partner. Where had Emrys
gone off to now?
Grim’s
laughter interrupted her concentration, “Oh slippers of glass! This is just too
rich!”
“What
are you talking about?” Amie grumbled upon spotting Emrys flirting with a new,
bejeweled partner.
“You
are completely unspoiled by the ravages of your human life. Don’t look so
surprised, dearest. I know everything that goes on in and out of the
Borderlands. I make it my business to know the affairs of every House,
particularly.” He smiled again and she saw through his pleasant, blonde and
blue-eyed mask of perfection, to a darkly appealing creature beneath.
“I
don’t know what you mean,” she said, averting her gaze and trying desperately
not to give away her surprise. He wasn’t supposed to know she was half human,
none of them were.
“In
spite of meself, I like you Jessamiene Wenderdowne. It is for this among other
reasons we are protecting the estate from those wild rebelling murderers
outside.”
Had
she not been diverted, Amie might have paid more heed to his words. But she was
too busy currently aiming daggers at Emrys’ partner, after the woman leaned in
to kiss him softly on the lips. Morcant Hogswillow was the most beautiful
creature Amie had ever seen. Her brown eyes burned yellow as candlelight, her
voluminous curls were the luster of chestnuts and piled high on her head in
their sapphire net. Peacock feathers sprung from this nest of hair and adorned
her tightly bound dress. Skirts of purples, blues and greens swished around her
tiny frame in sync with every musical sweep of strings.
“Jealous
are we?” Grim followed her line of sight and slowly turned back to face Amie.
“But that will never do my dear bauble. He can sense your dark emotions, is
drawn to them like a troll to unicorn scat.”
“Are
you sure you aren’t the jealous one?” Even
though Amie knew Grim spoke the truth it still hurt. But she knew enough about
Rumplekin’s to know one must always keep a step ahead. “Morcant must be a kind
mistress, but I have heard of her fickleness,” she said, hinting of what Emrys
betrayed to her.
Grim’s
eyes lit blue as the summer skies, delighted rather than repulsed. “Oh they
really have you on a leash don’t they? Feeding you lies of my mistress’
affections? Have you not noticed the intent of her eyes this night? Fantasies
of him make her live and breathe, and he gives into her mad cravings just to
appease her appetite for destruction.”
Sure enough, Morcant was staring at
Uncle Henry as he spoke to…oh crap…
I've read up on several blogs and decided to try something different and fun. Since everyone seems to be doing Teaser Tuesdays and whatnot, let's call this ____ Monday. Yep, I have no clue what to call this yet lol. But rules are you comment and link to one thing that is your favorite, be it a video a picture or whatever. Have fun! I know I will even if I'm the only one lol We'll try out a Teaser Tuesday tomorrow, but today is going to be all about randomness and fun. So feel free to post comments about your own favorite things. I'm going to share something of mine. Ready? Set? Go!
So I've decided to start putting stuff up about Silver Hollow!
Qeya is going up for an R&R this week, of which I'm extremely stoked about. But my main focus lately has been Silver Hollow, my big novel. I'm hoping to publish by November. I would say earlier, but we all know how that went last time lol.
I've been working on SH for about a year now and am very anxious to see it at its best :) Hopefully Allison and I can get it in tip top shape in the next couple weeks before it's final edit. Go Allison! She's seriously an inspiration, couldn't have written this without her logical mind! You might say she's my own personal Hermione lol
Sorry I haven't posted anything new lately! I've been swamped with all sorts of randomness. You ever get to that point where you're just rushing around trying to get a grip on things? I've been in a limbo of sorts with that. As for Silver Hollow, I'll start posting excerpts and such mainly on my website HERE
But for your viewing pleasure I'm posting the first chapter as a separate page, as well as the first half of ch 1 of Qeya. Enjoy :)
